Our signature event: FARM FEST

Farm Fest allows us to educate and be in community with local farmers and folks from nearby towns. The event will offer morning classes from 9 to 11 am related to farming, nature-based skills, and wellness. From 11:30 am to 3 pm, come visit for a free family-fun event the whole community can enjoy!

FARM FEST 2024 ACTIVITIES

SATURDAY, JULY 27TH

All activities take place at 3PF at 1591 Moon Rd, Columbus, PA 16405

SATURDAY MORNING CLASSES

Come experience on-farm learning through hands-on classes, presentations, and educational hikes featuring Laff ‘N Lyon Ranch, Tamarack Farms Piedmontese, Corry Higher Education Council, and Jill’s Just Breathe Yoga.

Draft Horse Driving Clinic

Melissa and Aaron Lyon, Laff N Lyon Ranch
9 - 11 am, $10/person

Step back in time and experience the thrill of driving a rig hitched to two beautiful, majestic spotted draft horses.

You will learn…

  • horse grooming and hoof care

  • harness mechanics and how to harness the team

  • how to line drive the horses

  • how to hitch the wagon and drive!

This two-hour experience is designed for beginners, age 12 and older; all experience levels are welcome! Waivers required.

Virtual Cattle Fencing

Dan Stroup, Tamarack Farm Piedmontese
10 - 11 am, FREE

Fencing is a constant concern for many farmers, costing time, labor, and materials.

Dan Stroup, owner/operator of Tamarack Farms Piedmontese has been researching virtual cattle fencing systems tested in New Zealand and in the U.S. midwest.

Dan will share his research and efforts to experiment with virtual cattle fencing, where cows wear solar-powered collars that warn them to stay within prescribed boundaries. These boundaries are managed through a software program.

Come learn about the concept and discuss the pros and cons of use in NWPA!

Beekeeping 101

90-minute workshop with Bee Happy Farm & Apothecary from Ashville, NY to learn what it takes to care for and grow a thriving bee colony that produces local honey beneficial to our health!

Goat Yoga with Jill

10 - 11 am, $15/per person

For a great start to your Saturday, join Jill from Jill’s Just Breathe Yoga and some cute kids, courtesy of Melissa Curtis of Ski-Line Farms!

$15/person, cash only. Please bring your own mat, block, and water

Forage Hike with Kristy - Cancelled

Unfortunately, the forage hikes are cancelled due to illness. We will try again at a later date. Stay tuned!

Join Kristy Baird of Presque Isle Mind-Body Wellness Center for an hour hike on 3PF’s conservation ponds, discovering the health benefits associated with common plants native to NWPA.

Two time options are offered: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and 1:30 - 2:30 pm

Proper hiking gear encouraged - hiking boots, jeans, sunscreen & bug spray

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES (11:30 AM - 3:00 PM)

The afternoon will feature farm education, food, and fun activities for all ages. Come learn from area educational exhibitors and purchase from local farmers market vendors and businesses. Fun activities include horse-drawn wagon rides by Laff 'n Lyon Ranch, artisan demonstrations, hands-on art activities, a petting zoo, food trucks, live music, and more!
